Pie Charts by Group
For the 1973-80 time period.
These pies are based on relative mean prey weights
(variable ravepy in data tables)
Simple diet composition pie charts are provided for all fish and squid species with at least 20 stomach
samples per grouping variable. Species without charts for a group indicate that sample sizes were fewer than 20 stomachs per
group for all group levels. However, in some cases charts are missing because they could not be generated under
the default graphics settings (labeled NO CHART). These charts could be generated if the program were customized for the species/group.
Pie slices are sorted by phylogeny. Prey species indicated in the chart legend (reading left to right) correspond
with pie slices reading counterclockwise from 3 o'clock. Note, these graphs are mass produced and are
intended to provide quick access to basic diet information. Click on the data set at the head of the column to view
the actual data used to compose the charts (these data sets include all species groups with N=1 or higher). Note the
Scientific Name column is not sorted by either phylogeny or alphabetically, it is sorted by the NMFS code number. To
determine whether a species is in the table, use your browsers "find" command to search for the scientific name.
