Such A Melancholy Sound

By Rodney Rountree
written November 2013
(Lyric #1 from "Long Drive Compositions")
Listen to the song

Last night I heard the bells ring
Such a melancholy sound
The birds stopped their singing
And the moon went behind a cloud

I don’t know why she left me
I can hardly stand the pain
Like a knife she stabs right through me
And my grief is all in vain

What am I to do now?
I haven’t got a clue
I’m wandering on the earth
With an emptiness in me

I hear the bells ringing
Such a melancholy sound
The birds have all stopped their singing
And the moon’s behind a cloud.
